Job summary

Crescent Solutions is seeking a seasoned engineer to lead high‑voltage substation projects in the United States. You will manage projects from concept development through construction, commissioning, and closeout, coordinating with development teams and EORs to define scope and ensure design compliance.

The role requires a B.E. in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil/Structural engineering, 7+ years of relevant experience, and a PE or PMP is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil/Structural Engineering (preferred).
• 7+ years in design and engineering of high‑voltage substations.
• Experience in project engineering and/or project management with results orientation.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license and/or PMP certification preferred.
• Willingness to travel within North America.

Job description

• Manage assigned substation projects from concept development (Early Stage) through construction, commissioning, and project closeout (Execution).
• Partner with the Early-Stage Project Manager during project development to define engineering requirements, establish project scope, and support the Development team.
• Provide technical oversight, due diligence, and guidance to external Engineers of Record (EORs), ensuring compliance with generation interconnection agreements, project specifications, site‑specific design requirements, IEEE, NESC, ASCE, and other applicable industry codes and standards.
• Develop scopes of work, solicit and evaluate bids, and secure engineering consulting services through the Integrated Supply Chain (ISC) team.
• Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to secure substation sites and support engineering updates, permitting, and technical data required for project execution.
• Source, evaluate, and manage geotechnical, survey, engineering, and construction service providers while supporting the E&C Cost Estimating team with scope development and cost assumptions.
• Collaborate across engineering, development, construction, and operations teams to ensure successful project execution, while representing E&C in project meetings, management briefings, and risk reviews.
• Support Transmission Services in reviewing interconnection documentation, including system impact, facility, reactive power, and harmonic studies, ensuring compliance with ISO and transmission owner requirements.
• Coordinate with transmission owners, operators, and ISOs to ensure project deliverables meet interconnection requirements and are completed accurately and on schedule.
• Manage procurement of long‑lead substation equipment and materials to minimize schedule and budget risks.
• Support the ISC team by preparing, reviewing, and approving scopes of work, engineering service requests, material requisitions, and shopping carts in a timely manner.
• Provide technical support to the E&C Estimating team by updating estimating templates, refining project scopes, and incorporating lessons learned.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to establish project priorities, define responsibilities, and coordinate engineering deliverables.
• Ensure projects are executed safely, efficiently, and cost‑effectively while adhering to company processes, procedures, policies, and industry standards.
• Support project commissioning activities to achieve schedule, quality, and operational objectives.
• Provide engineering support to the Legal department for regulatory filings, depositions, and hearings as needed.
• Partner with original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to optimize equipment designs and align solutions with company engineering standards and design philosophies.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil/Structural Engineering preferred.
• Seven or more years of experience in the design and engineering of high‑voltage substations strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated experience in project engineering and/or project management with a strong results‑oriented approach.
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) license and/or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.
• Ability to travel within North America as required.
