SubstationProject Engineer Job Summary

POWER Engineers, member of WSP, is currently seekinga mid-level electrical, mechanical or civil engineer to work as a Substation Project Engineer in the Power Delivery Substation Department of our Mount Laurel, New Jerseyoffice. A minimum of three in person days are required, with the flexibility is available to work remote one or two days a week if desired.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Perform and direct others in the detailed design of medium to extra high voltage utility substations including one-line diagrams, elementary and wiring diagrams, SCADA, communications, conduit and cable sizing/routing, substation physical layouts, selection of substation equipment, writing of substation equipment specifications, proposal development, construction cost estimates, and project scheduling
• Mentor less experienced staff in substation project execution
• Ensure POWER quality procedures are followed and that the team is resourced in an optimal manner
• Perform QA/QC for deliverables
• Manage scope,schedule, budget, and quality of assigned projects

Required Education/Experience

• BSEE, BSME, or BSCE (BS Electrical/Mechanical/Civil Engineering) or equivalent Engineering Technology degree, from an accredited university
• Experience in 15kV through 138kV substation design (Protection & Control or Physical/Civil/Structural)
• Experience filling the role of project engineer for several substation projects occurring concurrently
• The candidate must have strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills in order to work effectively with internal team members and external client personnel
• Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorship

Desired Education/Experience

• Five (5) or more years experience in utility substation design
• Experience in 230 kV to 500 kV substation design and IEEE/ANSI standards
• Proficient in both P&C and Physical design
