Job summary

Con Edison seeks a Civil Engineer for Substation Project Engineering to provide technical civil design and planning for substation projects in New York. The role emphasizes safety, reliability, and compliance while supporting design teams and project execution.

The engineer will develop scope-of-work, review calculations, coordinate with vendors, and assist in RFPs, with 24/7 emergency response as needed. PE preferred and EIT/ NYC codes knowledge valued.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in civil engineering with relevant design experience.
• Knowledge of AISC, ACI, ASCE, NYC Building Code and related codes; EIT registration.
• PE preferred or strong path toward licensure and EIT qualification.

Responsibilities

• Define civil scope-of-work for substation projects and establish design basis.
• Prepare and review detailed calculations, drawings, specs, and budgets.
• Provide technical oversight and design verification with third-party consultants.
• Assess constructability and O&M implications in designs.
• Develop conceptual studies, reports, cost estimates, and schedules.
• Coordinate with vendors, customers, and field teams throughout projects.
• Support RFP development and field walks for outside services.
• Respond to emergencies on a 24/7 basis.
