Job summary

Leidos Engineering in Atlanta is seeking a Substation P&C Designer to create substation design drawing packages and documents for 12kV–500kV projects. You will develop single line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts while reviewing vendor drawings for accuracy.

The role requires 2+ years of relevant CAD experience, proficiency with AutoCAD and MicroStation, and the ability to work with multi-discipline teams to deliver high-quality, safe designs.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of substation Protection & Controls / Electrical design experience using CAD software on electric utility industry projects.
  • High School diploma required; Associate's degree preferred.
  • Proficient with Windows-based software such as Word and Excel to develop project deliverables.

Responsibilities

  • Develop new or modify existing Single Line Diagrams.
  • Develop Electrical Schematics / Elementaries.
  • Create Wiring Diagrams and Panel Layout Drawings.
  • Complete battery loading and voltage drop studies.
  • Develop a complete bill of materials for all required electrical equipment and materials.
  • Review equipment drawings from vendors and comment and coordinate with vendors.
  • Collaborate with Substation Physical Design and other disciplines to complete work.
  • Perform basic engineering calculations and apply client, national, and state standards.

Are you a skilled Substation P&C Designer looking for an exciting new opportunity? Leidos Engineering is seeking a talented professional in the Atlanta area to take on the challenge of creating substation design drawing packages and necessary documents for electric power substations ranging from 12kV to 500kV. You'll be responsible for utilizing accepted practices and standards to ensure that all designs meet the highest level of quality and safety. Your Main Objective

  • Develop new, or modify existing:
  • Single Line Diagrams
  • Electrical Schematics / Elementaries
  • Wiring Diagrams
  • Panel Layout Drawings
  • Complete battery loading and voltage drop studies
  • Develop a complete bill of materials for all required electrical equipment and materials.
  • Review and comment on equipment drawings received from vendors and manufacturers.
  • Work with other disciplines (e.g., Substation Physical Design) as necessary to complete assigned work.
  • Assist the project team with developing processes and procedures to increase team efficiency.
  • Perform basic engineering calculations to support engineering design
  • Apply relevant client, national, and state standards to each assignment as needed.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD

What Sets You Apart

  • Expertise with AutoCAD Electrical w/Substation Design Suite (SDS).
  • High School degree required, Associate's degree in a related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of direct substation Protection & Controls / Electrical design experience using CAD software on electric utility industry projects.
  • A combination of education and a demonstrated related experience may be considered in lieu of education and experience requirements.
  • Proficient with Windows-based software such as Word and Excel, which are frequently used to develop project deliverables.
  • Ability to learn and effectively utilize new design software programs.
  • Ability to work in a team environment with others including, but not limited to, Project Managers, Engineers, Designers, and drafters in multi-discipline groups.
  • Experience working on EPC or other design-build Contract types
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and work product quality.

Pay Range
Pay Range $40,300.00 - $72,850.00
