Job summary

Leidos Engineering in Atlanta seeks a Substation P&C Designer to create substation design drawing packages and documents for 12kV–500kV facilities. You will develop single line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts using AutoCAD Electrical and SDS.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years of protection and controls design experience, proficiency with AutoCAD, and the ability to collaborate with project managers, engineers, and drafters across disciplines on EPC or design-build

Qualifications

• High School degree required; Associate's degree preferred.
• 2+ years of direct substation Protection & Controls / Electrical design experience using CAD software on electric utility industry projects.
• Proficient with Windows-based software such as Word and Excel, frequently used to develop deliverables.
• Ability to learn and effectively utilize new design software programs.
• Ability to work in a team environment with project managers, engineers, designers, and drafters in multi-discipline groups.
• Experience with EPC or design-build contracts is a plus.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; strong attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Develop new or modify existing: Single Line Diagrams, Electrical Schematics/Elementaries, Wiring Diagrams, Panel Layout Drawings.
• Complete battery loading and voltage drop studies.
• Develop a complete bill of materials for all required electrical equipment and materials.
• Review and comment on equipment drawings from vendors and manufacturers.
• Collaborate with other disciplines to complete work.
• Assist the project team in developing efficient processes and procedures.
• Perform basic engineering calculations to support design.
• Apply client, national, and state standards as needed.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD.

Are you a skilled Substation P&C Designer looking for an exciting new opportunity? Leidos Engineering is seeking a talented professional in the Atlanta area to take on the challenge of creating substation design drawing packages and necessary documents for electric power substations ranging from 12kV to 500kV. You'll be responsible for utilizing accepted practices and standards to ensure that all designs meet the highest level of quality and safety. Your Main Objective:

• Develop new, or modify existing:
  • Single Line Diagrams
  • Electrical Schematics / Elementaries
  • Wiring Diagrams
  • Panel Layout Drawings
• Complete battery loading and voltage drop studies
• Develop a complete bill of materials for all required electrical equipment and materials.

• Work with other disciplines (e.g., Substation Physical Design) as necessary to complete assigned work.

What Sets You Apart:

• Expertise with AutoCAD Electrical w/Substation Design Suite (SDS).
• High School degree required, Associate's degree in a related field preferred.
• 2+ years of direct substation Protection & Controls / Electrical design experience using CAD software on electric utility industry projects.
• A combination of education and a demonstrated related experience may be considered in lieu of education and experience requirements.
• Proficient with Windows-based software such as Word and Excel, which are frequently used to develop project deliverables.
• Ability to learn and effectively utilize new design software programs.
• Ability to work in a team environment with others including, but not limited to, Project Managers, Engineers, Designers, and drafters in multi-discipline groups.
• Experience working on EPC or other design-build Contract types
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong attention to detail and work product quality.

Pay Range

Pay Range: Pay Range $40,300.00 - $72,850.00
