This role focuses on substation relay and apparatus testing with a strong emphasis on safe operation of electrical power systems. The position requires frequent travel for project work and a solid technical background. Ideal candidates will have experience in testing and commissioning electrical power systems, reading wiring diagrams, and following OSHA safety

Qualificações

• At least 2 years of experience in testing and commissioning electrical power systems and controls (HV substations preferred).
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and diagrams (single-line, three-line, schematics).
• Strong troubleshooting skills for electrical equipment and controls during energization and post-energization.

Responsabilidades

• Install and maintain equipment including transformers, circuit breakers, switches, relays and control systems.
• Perform inspections and testing; diagnose faults with specialized tools and test equipment.
• Repair and troubleshoot electrical or mechanical issues efficiently.
• Read and interpret technical documents such as blueprints, schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Ensure safety compliance per OSHA and company procedures for high-voltage systems.
• Operate bucket trucks, cranes and other machinery for installation and repair.
• Assist in construction projects; build or upgrade substations.

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Substation Journeyman to join our team. This position will focus on substation relay and apparatus testing, with a strong emphasis on ensuring the safe and effective operation of electrical power systems. The ideal candidate will have a solid technical background, an eye for detail, and a willingness to travel frequently for project work.

What You'll Do

• Install and maintain equipment

Travel Requirements:

• Extensive travel is required, with some trips lasting several weeks. Travel schedules are planned in advance, with periods of high travel demand expected

What You'll Bring

• At least 2 years of experience in testing and commissioning electrical power systems and controls. Previous experience working in HV substations preferred.


• This position will require both technical expertise and the ability to work efficiently in both office and field environments


• Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical single-line diagrams, three-line drawings, schematics/wiring diagrams, network diagrams, and mechanical drawings.


• Strong troubleshooting skills for electrical equipment and controls during and post-energization.


• Knowledge of electrical hazards (shock, arc flash) and a strong commitment to adhering to industry-standard safety practices.
