Job summary

Black & Veatch Family of Companies is seeking a Substation Helper 1 to assist journeymen in planning, layout, installation, and testing of substation components. You will operate hand and power tools to install conduits and cable, dig trenches, and install control equipment while maintaining safety standards.

The role requires basic knowledge of substations, 18+ years of age, and adherence to pre-job safety processes. Join a team focused on quality and safety in challenging field conditions.

Qualifications

Experience working on substations or as an electrician or similar craft as a helper or laborer.
Basic knowledge of the substation field; ability to follow directions.
Must have all necessary tools as listed for Substation Helper role.
Must be at least 18 years old and able to complete onboarding requirements.

Responsibilities

Assist journeyman in planning, layout, installation, testing and repair of substation components.
Use hand and power tools to measure, cut, assemble and install conduits and cable.
Dig trenches and install switches, relays, and circuit-breaker panels.
Test continuity and safety of circuits using testing instruments and scopes.
Follow safety procedures and contribute to pre-job safety planning.
