What You’ll Do
- Manage the Substation Group, ensuring resource allocation, budgets, utilization, schedules and technical excellence across all projects.
- Lead substation physical and protection & control design on high‑voltage (69 kV –500 kV) substation projects.
- Provide technical direction and perform quality reviews of calculations, drawings, and specifications.
- Lead and review substation physical and protection & control design—including layouts, one‑lines, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
- Oversee loss prevention practices and ensure compliance with NESC, IEEE, ANSI, and NEMA standards.
- Support proposal preparation, cost estimating, and client presentations.
- Mentor and develop engineers, conduct training, and manage utilization and group performance metrics.
- Collaborate with the Substation Department Manager on recruiting, business development, and long‑term strategy.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in Electrical Engineering and an active Professional Engineer (PE) license required; PMP certification is a plus.
- 15+ years of experience in high‑voltage substation and power systems engineering and 4+ years in leadership or supervisory roles.
- Fluency in utility standards such as NEC, NESC, IEEE, NEMA, and ANSI.
- Advanced knowledge of substation physical design, including physical and protection & control layouts, one‑lines, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, and familiarity with AutoCAD, MicroStation, or Bentley Substation tools.
- Strong communication, organization, coaching, leadership, and client‑relationship skills.
Compensation
Estimated salary range: $120,000 – $160,000, based on experience, qualifications, and PE/PMP status.
