Job summary

Job description

A growing contractor in the power delivery space is seeking an experienced, self-starting team member with a strong project leadership background to perform engineering design activities for electrical substations.

Responsibilities

• Performing and directing detailed design of medium to extra high voltage substations and transmission lines, including:
• SCADA and communication systems
• Station layouts, grounding, and structural details
• Cable and conduit design
• Foundation and control enclosure plans
• Lightning and yard lighting plans
• Bills of materials, sag calculations, and inter-discipline coordination
• Substation equipment selection and specification
• Construction support, facility studies, and site visits
• Managing project schedules, budgets, and overall quality
• Supporting project managers with reporting, proposals, and client needs
• Mentoring and developing junior engineers
• Following client standards and completing technically challenging designs
• Traveling as required (approximately 15%)

Education & Experience

• BSEE or BSEET (or equivalent technical education)
• 5-10+ years of experience in substation design
• Expertise in 15kV–345kV substation design and IEEE/ANSI standards
• Proficiency with CAD software (AutoCAD, Autodesk, Bentley, Revit, etc.)
• Experience serving as a project engineer/lead across multiple concurrent T&D projects
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage competing priorities
• Strong communication, leadership, and mentoring skills
• Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
