Job summary

Alpha 3 Consulting is seeking a Substation Engineer with expertise in substation equipment, calculations, and protection and control for HV projects from concept through detailed design. The role is full-time with a hybrid schedule, three days in the office (Tue-Thu) and two days remote.

Preferred location: Elkridge, MD; other locations may be available based on qualifications. The position requires an undergraduate in electrical engineering (master’s preferred) and experience with substation

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical/electronics engineering or closely related field.
• Master’s degree in electrical power engineering or at least two years relevant experience.
• Knowledge of electrical substations including transformers, breakers, disconnects, buswork and related equipment.
• Familiarity with protection requirements, protection schemes and digital relays.
• Knowledge of NEC/NESC and electrical codes; familiarity with Microstation and/or AutoCAD.

Responsibilities

• Analyze, evaluate, and create new designs and drawings with guidance from senior engineering personnel.
• Revise existing designs and drawings as needed.
• Work in an integrated project team environment to develop deliverables including one lines, schematics, layouts, site plans, wiring diagrams, cable schedules, and bills of material.

Job Title: Substation Engineer (P&C)Location: Elkridge, MDPOSITION DESCRIPTIONAlpha 3 is seeking a Substation Engineer with education and experience in substation equipment, calculations, and protection and control to support high voltage substation projects from conceptual through detailed design. This is a full-time position with a hybrid work schedule. Three days per week (typically Tuesday-Thursday) are expected to be in the office and two days per week from home. Preferred office location Elkridge, MD.
