Job summary

X4 Engineering is seeking a Project Engineer II to support a growing portfolio of renewable energy and electrical infrastructure projects. This role targets an Electrical Engineer with 2–5 years of experience and a drive to expand technical expertise alongside increased responsibility.

Location options include Raleigh, NC among others, with responsibilities spanning solar, wind, storage, substations and interconnections.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Electrical Engineering is required.
• 3+ years of applicable engineering experience.
• EIT certification required.
• PE exam passed is a plus.
• Exposure to renewable energy, substations, protection and controls.

Responsibilities

• Develop engineering plans, specifications and inspection reports.
• Assist with renewable energy, substation and utility interconnection designs and drawings.
• Work across AC/DC and low, medium and high-voltage systems.
• Support material procurement and construction contract administration.
• Provide technical direction to designers and CAD professionals.
• Coordinate with customers and vendors; support field activities, commissioning and relay testing.
• Develop expertise in areas such as protection, controls, SCADA or relay settings.
• Mentor junior Project Engineers and contribute to safety culture and standards.

Education

B.S. in Electrical Engineering

3+ years of applicable engineering experience

EIT certification

PE exam passed (a plus)

Exposure to renewable energy, substations, protection and controls

We’re working with an established engineering organization that is expanding its team and looking for a Project Engineer II to support a growing portfolio of renewable energy and electrical infrastructure projects.

This is a great opportunity for an Electrical Engineer with 2–5 years of relevant experience who is looking to develop their technical expertise while taking on increasing responsibility across project delivery.

The Role

You’ll work alongside experienced engineering professionals on projects spanning solar and wind farms, battery energy storage systems, substations and utility interconnections.

Responsibilities will include:

• Supporting the development of engineering plans, specifications and inspection reports
• Assisting with renewable energy, substation and utility interconnection designs and construction drawings
• Working across AC/DC and low, medium and high-voltage systems
• Supporting material procurement and construction contract administration
• Providing technical direction to designers and CAD professionals
• Working with customers and vendors as requiredSupporting field activities, commissioning and relay testing
• Developing expertise in areas such as physical layout, protection and controls, SCADA or relay settings
• Supporting and mentoring junior Project Engineers
• Contributing to a strong safety culture and established engineering standards

What We’re Looking For
