Job summary

K&A Engineering in Cary, NC is looking for a Substation Designer with over 4 years of utility substation design experience. K&A Engineering Consulting is a privately held company providing consulting, engineering and design, program/project management, construction management, and support services to power utility and industrial clients. We specialize in substation, transmission, distribution, distributed energy resources, and EPC services.

Responsibilities

• Prepare physical layout drawings for substations and produce electrical plans and sections as well as grounding and conduit drawings.
• Prepare bills of materials and review drawings and specifications.
• Preparation of substation drawings including:
• Substation General Arrangement
• Substation Electrical Equipment Plans
• Substation Section Views (Elevations)
• Substation Detailed Bill of Material
• Substation Grounding Plan
• Substation Conduit, Electrical Connection and Grounding Details
• Substation Below Grade Conduit/Raceway Plan
• Control Building Equipment, Cable Tray, Lighting, Grounding Plans and Section

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in utility substation design.
• Associate’s degree in engineering technology or drafting preferred (minimum 2 years).
• Proficient with AutoCAD and MicroStation.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products such as Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Compensation

Pay Range: $70,000 – $100,000 per year.
