Job summary

Black Hills Energy is seeking a substation engineering professional to develop technical skills within its transmission and distribution footprint. You will assist senior engineers in designing substations, creating layouts, and preparing material lists for build-out and maintenance projects.

Located in Denver, Cheyenne, or Rapid City, the role offers relocation assistance and opportunities to advance through varying levels of engineering responsibility while maintaining a strong safety focus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering is required.
• Must hold a valid driver's license and driving record meeting standards.
• Travel up to 25% of the time.

Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee major capital transmission and distribution projects under supervision.
• Create detailed electrical layouts, plans, material lists, and construction drawings for substations.
• Provide entry-level engineering support in substation design and equipment upgrades.
• Analyze problems and apply standard procedures to develop solutions.
• Support project plans, prioritize workflow, and monitor milestones.
• Lead project work and coordinate team efforts when needed.
• Maintain safety policies and stop-work authority.
