Job summary

Toth and Associates, Inc. is seeking an in-office Substation Designer to support the design and development of electric utility substation projects. You will work with engineers, CAD Technicians, and project teams to create safe, reliable layouts and design packages.

The role emphasizes strong technical design, attention to detail, and coordination across electrical, civil, and structural teams to deliver constructible, code-compliant designs for substations and upgrades.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in drafting/engineering technology or related field with 4+ years of experience OR Bachelor's degree with 2+ years of experience.
• Experience in utility/substation design and related infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Develop physical layouts and detailed designs for substations and upgrades.
• Create and maintain 2D CAD drawings, plans, elevations, sections, and details.
• Ensure designs meet standards, client specs, safety requirements, and engineering practices.
• Coordinate with electrical, civil, and structural teams for integrated designs.
• Review equipment and vendor drawings for dimensions and connections.
• Evaluate layouts for clearances, accessibility, and future expansion needs.
• Identify and resolve design conflicts and constructability issues.
• Prepare design documentation and equipment schedules using MS Office.
• Support design through all phases from concept to construction-ready deliverables.
