The Substation Construction Foreman will supervise a crew of technicians and laborers, coordinating schedules, materials, and equipment to ensure safe, on-budget completion per plans and standards. Strong blueprint reading and CDL requirements apply.

Job description

POSITION SUMMARY

The Substation Construction Foreman is primarily responsible for supervising and directing a crew of substation technicians, construction workers, apprentices, and laborers at job sites throughout the southeastern U.S. The Foreman will establish and adjust work schedules to support project timelines, organize and coordinate required materials, manpower, and equipment, and ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, on budget, and in accordance with applicable plans, specifications, codes, customer requirements, and industry standards.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Ability to manage and maintain assigned substation crew.
  • Works to establish, adjust, and maintain work sequences to meet the construction schedule for a given project.
  • Organizes and coordinates all the project materials and equipment.
  • Reads and interprets blueprint specifications, contract documents, and plans.
  • Analyzes and quickly resolves any work problems that may arise and ensures that all deficiencies on any given project are corrected in a timely manner.
  • Leads by example, sets, monitors, and enforces the standards of FB Timberlines safety expectations.
  • Conducts quality control inspections on project sites.
  • Coordinates with all other crafts working on a job site to ensure smooth transitions.
  • Identify and communicate constructability concerns in a clear and timely manner
  • Ability to mentor and coach up and coming substation construction workers
  • Willingness to perform onsite work
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
Education & Experience
  • Minimum four (4) years of experience in substation construction.
  • Experience installing, maintaining, and repairing substation equipment, foundations, and structures (brownfield & greenfield)
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints.
  • Must pass a background check, including drug screen.
  • Experience pulling control cable and conductor.
  • Experience using hand tools, power tools, transits, electrical safety tools, small and heavy equipment.
  • Experience studying work orders, building plans, and installation manuals in order to determine material requirements and installation procedures.
  • Experience reading contract drawings.
  • Experience installing and mounting electronic controls, device panels, sensors, and components.
  • Experience installing, assembling, testing, and maintaining electrical or electronic wiring, conduit, wiring, cable, equipment, components, and devices associated with electrical equipment following drawings of electrical layouts and building plans.
  • Ability to lead, instruct, and train workers.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.

Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to work within a physically demanding work environment.
  • Ability to pass a background check, and drug and alcohol tests.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid CDL.
  • Ability to carry and lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Ability to establish strong working relationships
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Strong work ethic and positive team attitude
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams
  • OSHA 10 (30 preferred)
Additional Details

This position requirescandidates to:

  • Successfully complete pre-employment/pre-access drug and alcohol testing to obtain clearance for site access
  • Travel and work overtime as required

The range shown is the expected base pay range for this role. Final compensation will be determined based on role requirements, experience, qualifications, work location, applicable project/site requirements, internal equity, and any applicable collective agreement or union requirements.

This range does not include overtime, premiums, per diem / LOA, bonuses, benefits, or other forms of compensation unless specifically stated in the job posting.

Base Pay Range

$48—$58 USD
