Job summary

Arizona Public Service Company is seeking a Battery Specialist- Electrical for Deer Valley Substation Maintenance in Arizona. The role focuses on battery health testing and alarm functionality across substations, ensuring adherence to industry standards and safety practices.

Qualifications

  • Must qualify as a Substation Journeyman with at least one year of experience.
  • Computer and data entry proficiency required
  • Current CDL Class A license required
  • Willingness to work overtime and respond to emergencies as needed

Responsibilities

  • Perform engineering level tests such as battery capacity testing, voltage testing, resistance testing, and battery acceptance test for new construction installed banks.
  • Perform functional testing for Substation High, Low, and Ground Alarms using test equipment and software.
  • Develop knowledge of chemical hazards/reactions and electrical hazards of batteries.
  • Coordinate and perform work with multiple departments including System Health, Design Engineering, Substation Project Planners, Construction Planners, Protection & Control, Predictive Maintenance, Supply Chain Buyers, IT Comm, and NGN Program.
  • Manage and execute scheduled testing of battery equipment adhering to IEEE, FERC, and NERC standards.
  • Maintain and install batteries and equipment per IEEE, FERC, and NERC standards and requirements.
  • Provide training to new Battery Specialists as needed.
