Job summary

U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs seeks a Licensed Professional Mental Health Counselor to provide comprehensive mental health and substance use disorder services.

The incumbent will perform intake assessments, develop treatment plans, and deliver individual, family, and group counseling within a cooperative interdisciplinary team. Responsibilities include psychosocial assessment, crisis intervention, and coordination of care across VA programs.

Qualifications

• Master's or doctoral degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling or CACREP-accredited program.
• Must hold a full current and unrestricted license to independently practice as a Licensed Professional Mental Health Counselor (LPMHC).
• Proficiency in English—spoken and written—per VA requirements.

Responsibilities

• Conduct psychosocial assessments to determine veterans' needs and family needs.
• Conduct intake assessments to determine VA program needs.
• Participate in treatment planning with other disciplines and relevant staff.
• Provide individual, family, and group counseling focused on substance use disorders or other mental health needs.
• Document interventions and maintain clinical records in CPRS; coordinate transfers within VA system.
