Job summary

Maricopa County Department of Public Health is seeking an Epidemiology Investigator for Substance Use-Related Morbidities. You will conduct confidential interviews, collect health data, review records, and provide harm-reduction education to connect residents with resources.

The role supports surveillance of opioid overdoses, hepatitis C, and other health conditions. The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in a health field and includes a hybrid schedule with benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a health-related field
• Experience collecting health information via interviews or investigations
• Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred

Responsibilities

• Conduct confidential telephone investigations with substance users or hepatitis C cases to collect epidemiological data.
• Review medical/lab records to verify information and determine investigation needs.
• Provide harm-reduction and overdose-prevention information and refer clients to resources.
• Coordinate with facilities, labs, and partners to obtain records and support timely investigations.
• Document encounters clearly in surveillance and case-management systems.
