Job summary

AtlantiCare in New Jersey seeks a Counselor to manage a caseload and provide comprehensive substance use counseling aligned with ASAM criteria. You will develop client-centered treatment plans and coordinate with referral sources to ensure continuity of care.

Responsibilities include conducting assessments, documenting progress in clinical records within 24 hours, and participating in training. A strong emphasis on confidentiality, teamwork, and outcomes is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience with addiction terminology.
• Ability to multitask.
• Excellent time management skills.

Responsibilities

• Assessing the counseling needs of the clients.
• Assessing clients using the ASI or other standardized clinical interview tool.
• Determining the appropriate level of care according to ASAM Criteria.
• Developing a written treatment plan with goals and measurable objectives.
• Providing substance use counseling as specified in the treatment plan.
• Reviewing and revising the treatment plan as needed.
• Discharging/transferring clients as appropriate.
• Coordinating with referral sources (e.g., mental health, criminal justice, schools).
• Participating as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
