Job summary

Hygea Healthcare is hiring a Substance Use Counselor to provide individual, group, and family counseling within a 50‑bed detox facility in Middle River, MD. You will use evidence-based practices, ASAM criteria, and a trauma-informed approach to support clients on their recovery journey.

Qualifications

• Associate’s or Bachelor's degree in Counseling, Psychology, Human Services, or related field (Master’s preferred).
• Active SUD Counselor certification (CSC-AD, CAC-AD, LCADC, LCPC, LCSW, LGPC, LGADC, LGSW).
• 2+ years of experience in substance use disorder treatment (detox experience preferred).
• Crisis management and de-escalation skills.
• A team player dedicated to making a difference.

Responsibilities

• Conduct confidential, gender-responsive, trauma-informed assessments using ASAM criteria to determine level of care.
• Collaborate with clients and treatment team to support treatment and recovery.
• Conduct individual, group, and family sessions using evidence-based modalities.
• Work with a diverse team sharing Hygea Healthcare values and vision.
• Receive ongoing training and supervision to enhance clinical skills.
