Job summary

Louisville Metro Government seeks a counselor to aid individuals and families facing substance use challenges. The role involves counseling, group sessions, and referrals to social services, medical care, housing, and employment support.

The position requires a Bachelor’s in social/human services or related field with CADC/T CADC credentials, or a high school diploma with CADCA1/2 credentials. Certification within one year is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in social/human services or related field with CADC/T CADC credentials.
• Equivalent credential path: High school diploma with CADCA1 or CADCA2 and related experience.
• Must pursue Kentucky CADC certification within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate group sessions and educate on substance use issues.
• Counsel and refer clients to social services, housing, and treatment options.
• Assess needs, set goals, and monitor treatment progress.
• Interview clients to gather socioeconomic and medical history.
• Explain program eligibility and clinic fees to clients and families.
• Document progress and maintain client records; participate in QA activities.
