Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated Substance Use Counselor to join our team. As a Substance Use Counselor, you will be responsible for providing support and guidance to individuals struggling with substance abuse issues. Your primary goal will be to help clients understand and overcome their addiction, develop coping mechanisms, and lead a healthier, more fulfilling life.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or a related field.
  • Certification in substance abuse counseling or a similar credential is highly preferred.
  • Proven experience working as a Substance Use Counselor or in a similar role.
  • In-depth knowledge of addiction recovery methods, therapeutic techniques, and counseling theories.
  • Familiarity with state and federal regulations related to substance abuse treatment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with clients.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Compassionate and non-judgmental approach to counseling individuals with substance abuse issues.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and ensure the privacy of client information.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team setting.
Responsibilities
  • Conduct initial assessments to evaluate clients' needs, substance abuse history, and mental health status.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans in collaboration with clients, incorporating their goals and preferences.
  • Provide individual and group counseling sessions to address clients' substance abuse issues, triggers, and relapse prevention strategies.
  • Guide clients through the process of understanding their addiction and exploring underlying causes.
  • Assist clients in developing coping mechanisms and healthy strategies to prevent relapse.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, such as doctors and psychiatrists, to ensure holistic treatment for clients.
  • Facilitate educational workshops and support groups to provide clients with additional resources and enhance their recovery journey.
  • Keep accurate and up-to-date records of clients' progress, treatment plans, and counseling sessions.
  • Stay informed about current research, trends, and best practices in substance abuse counseling and incorporate them into your work.
  • Adhere to ethical standards and guidelines set forth by professional organizations and licensing boards.
