Job summary

Highland Rivers Behavioral Health is seeking a part-time substance use counselor to provide group and individual counseling within licensed programs. The role emphasizes recovery support, psychoeducation, and adherence to state licensure guidelines in Georgia.

The position requires a bachelor’s degree in a related field and GA CADC/CADC II or equivalent license, with at least one year of experience in mental health or SUD.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Sociology, Human Services, Criminology, or a related field.
• Active CADC/CADC II, CAC II, MAC or GA license (LAPC, LPC, LMSW, LCSW, LMFT) is required.
• Criminal background check clearance, drug screen, TB test, and 7-year MVR clearance required.
• 1 year of experience in mental health or substance use disorder field.
• Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct groups and individual counseling as per program licensure.
• Follow guidelines in the Program Plan.
• Complete service plans, assessments (including UDS), and documentation.
• Maintain caseload per treatment plans and ensure policy compliance.
• Conduct follow-up calls with referrals and participate in team meetings.
• Complete monthly treatment plan reviews and discharge planning as clinically indicated.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Summary:

Highland Rivers Behavioral Health (HRBH) substance use programs promote recovery, self-sufficiency and help individuals learn how to manage life issues and day-to-day living without the use of mood or mind-altering substances or drugs. HRBH substance use services lead to a path of recovery by offering one-to-one, group, and family counseling. HRBH areas of expertise include best practice interventions on abstinence from illicit chemical use to address substance use and depression, anxiety, bi-polar disorder, schizophrenia, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), poor impulse control, and negative patterns of thought and behavior that are counterproductive to living a healthy and fulfilled life.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Conduct groups, individual counseling and psychoeducation as delineated via program licensure by Georgia Department of Community Health (DCH)/Health Facility Regulation (HFR).
• Follow established guidelines in the Program Plan.
• Complete Service Plan Development's, and all other supporting assessments, including UDS, & documentation for individuals.
• Maintains a caseload of individuals ensuring compliance with policies and procedures re: documentation and services are being provided per and individual’s treatment plan recommendations.
• Follow-up calls with referrals and participation in Treatment/consultation/clinical team meetings.
• Complete monthly Treatment Plan reviews and discharge/transition persons served, as clinically indicated.
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Sociology, Human Services, Criminology, or a related field of study.
• Active Certified Alcohol & Drug Counselor Certificate from the State of Georgia – CADCI, CADCII, CACII, MAC and/or active license from the State of Georgia – LAPC, LPC, LMSW, LCSW, LMFT.
• Criminal background check clearance, official academic transcripts, valid driver’s license/ID, drug screen, TB test, and an eligible 7-year Motor Vehicle Report.
• 1 year experience working in the Mental Health or substance use disorder field.
• Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is highly preferred.
