Merakey seeks a Substance Abuse Specialist to join our ACT team in New Orleans, LA. You will provide individual therapy and lead substance use disorder groups, aiming to meet clients where they are in treatment.

The role requires licensure as LAC/CAC/PLPC/LMSW or CIT, plus a bachelor’s degree in a human services field. On-call duties and mileage stipend are included for this full-time position.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or other human service related field.
• Must be LAC (Licensed Addiction Counselor), CAC (Certified Addiction Counselor), PLPC (Provisional Licensed Professional Counselor) or LMSW (Licensed Master of Social Work) or Counselor In Training (CIT).
• Knowledge of recovery principles and recovery driven service system.
• Valid Louisiana driver's license.
• Appropriate state and federal clearances.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual substance abuse therapy and facilitate substance use disorder groups for consumers in service.
• Create person-centered treatment plans and review/change crisis plans as required.
• Maintain timely clinical documentation including progress notes, assessments, and treatment plans.

We are seeking Substance Abuse Specialist to join our team in our New Orleans, LA location.

Earn $22 (CIT) - $25/hour + $4,500/yearly mileage stipend

Substance Abuse Specialists are an essential part of the Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Team. The multidisciplinary team provides evidenced based services to members diagnosed with severe and persistent mental illness and co-occurring disorders. The SAS provides individual substance abuse therapy and facilitates substance use disorder groups to consumers in service. Create the person-centered treatment plan, review and change the individual crisis plan as required, and complete annual substance use assessment. Ability to meet the client where they are in treatment and utilize motivational Interviewing and Harm Reduction techniques when working with members. Maintain thorough and timely clinical documentation such as: progress notes, assessments, treatment plans, and interpretative summaries.
