Job summary

Merakey is seeking a Peer Support Specialist to join our team in Shreveport, LA. The role involves providing recovery-focused support to individuals in community, inpatient, or emergency settings, with travel within the region and rotating on-call duties.

The position offers a shift pattern Mon-Fri 8:00 AM–4:30 PM with additional evening and weekend/on-call rotations. Qualified candidates will have lived experience with a behavioral health diagnosis, a valid driver’s license, at least 12 months

Qualifications

• Must have an active driver's license and be willing to work within a community setting with members diagnosed with severe and persistent mental illness.
• Lived experience with a behavioral health diagnosis.
• A behavioral health diagnosis can include mental health challenges, addiction challenges, or co-occurring disorders.
• Peer Support Specialists must have at least twelve (12) months of continuous demonstrated recovery.
• Be able to complete a 2 week training/76 hour training.

Earn: $20.61/hour + $7,500/yearly mileage stipend

The Peer Support Specialist (PSS) performs a range of tasks through individual and group encounters to assist consumers in regaining control over their own lives and over their own recovery process. The PSS will role model competency in recovery and ongoing coping skills, serve as a consumer advocate, provide information, and peer support in their communities, inpatient or emergency settings. The PSS also provides essential expertise and consultation to other team members in promoting a recovery-oriented culture and practice of service provision and in understanding the consumers' perspective and subjective experience. Services are provided in accordance with all existing policies, procedures, and regulations and in accord with the mission and value of the company. This position will require travel within the region as well as an on-call rotation.
