Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited high school or GED.
• Current LCDC-I registration with Texas DSHS or CCJP-A certification.
• Licensure within five years of Counselor Intern/CCJP-A registration.
• Credential Contingency Agreement must be signed.
• Texas driver’s license with clean record, unless waived.
• Complete CAT training and annual in-service/background checks.
• Maintain Counselor Intern status or CCJP-A certification during employment.

Responsibilities

• Provides substance abuse counseling and recovery skills training.
• Maintains a Therapeutic Community within the facility with staff integration.
• Interviews, screens, and evaluates offenders for program participation.
• Provides a comprehensive evaluation from validated tools.
• Participates in the Individual Treatment Plan based on assessments.
• Maintains offender records and submits required reports.
• Implements follow-up and aftercare plans and refers to community resources.
• Develops an Individual Progress Summary at program completion.

Education

Graduation from an accredited senior high school or GED

LCDC-I registration or CCJP-A certification

Licensure within 5 years of Counselor Intern/CCJP-A
