Substance Abuse Counselor/Counselor Trainee

Position Overview:

The substance abuse counselor will assist patients through medically assisted programs and provide techniques for handling opioid addiction. Responsibilities include conducting group and individual sessions, crisis management, evaluating patient progress, and collaborating with healthcare professionals for optimal treatment outcomes.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct initial assessments and evaluations for service eligibility
  • Involve families and significant others in recovery processes when possible
  • Establish and review treatment plans with patients
  • Respond to patient grievances and complaints
  • Develop aftercare and discharge plans
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
Qualifications:
  • Certification or license from the Maryland Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists (e.g., ADT, CAC-AD, CSC-AD, LCPC, LCSW, LGADC, LCADC)
  • Satisfactory criminal background check and drug screening
Salary Range:

$44,000 – $80,000 annually. This position is non-exempt and eligible for overtime with prior approval. Compensation will be based on experience, education, licensure, and training.
