Job summary

VOA-Greater New York is seeking a Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) to provide counseling, guidance and case management to clients with substance use issues in New York City.

The role requires a High School diploma or GED and a current CASAC, with at least one year of social services experience in treatment planning, counseling and crisis intervention. The position is full-time with strong benefits.

Qualifications

• Must hold a current CASAC credential with NYS Office of Addiction Services.
• Minimum one year of social services experience in treatment planning and counseling.
• Experience providing case management and crisis intervention is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate client records and treatment documentation.

We are currently seeking qualified candidates for the following position:

Position: Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC)

The Substance Abuse Counselor provides direct counseling, guidance and case management services to clients with specific substance abuse problems. The Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC)/ Case Manager participates in delivery of social services to all clients of the program.

Location: New York, NY 10023

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School diploma or GED and current Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) by NYS Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services.
• It also requires a minimum of one year’s experience of social services experience in treatment planning, individual and group counseling case management and crisis intervention.

Substance Abuse Counselor Principal Responsibilities:

• Provide appropriate counseling services to individuals with specialized needs as defined in the service plan.
• Develop service plans with clients which address individualized needs.
• Maintain client records.
• Maintain linkages with community treatment providers.
• Complete accurate and comprehensive service delivery reports.
