GEO Reentry Services, LLC in Reading, PA is seeking a Substance Abuse Counselor to provide curriculum-based information and lead educational sessions for residents. You will facilitate didactic and individual counseling while selecting materials and staying updated on best practices in rehabilitation.

The role requires a Bachelor's or Associate degree in a related field with relevant clinical experience, along with strong communication skills, time management, and willingness to work overtime as

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field with one (1) year clinical experience in health or human services required.
• An Associate degree in a related field with two (2) years clinical experience required.

Responsibilities

• Provide relevant Substance Abuse information for class curriculum.
• Facilitate didactic educational presentations, group counseling, and individual counseling sessions.
• Select and recommend new instructional materials and programs for use in the substance abuse program.
• Maintain knowledge of new developments in the field of substance abuse.
• Maintain a collegian relationship with other substance abuse professionals, programs, and associations.
• Complete required testing, assessment, and psychosocial history on incoming residents as required.
• Participate in related training for substance abuse.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

• A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college with a major in chemical dependency, psychology, social work, counseling, or related field and one (1) year clinical experience in a health or human service agency, OR
  • An Associate Degree from an accredited college with a major in chemical dependency, psychology, social work, counseling, nursing, or related field and two (2) years clinical experience in health or human service agency.
• Knowledge of the field of addictions or mental health counseling preferred.
• Required skills include: time management and organizational skills.
• Ability to adhere to strict deadlines.
• Good written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to work overtime as requested by supervisor.
• Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.

Physical Requirements

In this position, you will frequently have to lift or carry up to 20 lbs. Candidates should also be able to bend, stoop, walk, and stand (31-60% of the time). You will also occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull up to 40 lbs.
