Job summary

BAART Programs in Durham, NC is seeking a compassionate Substance Abuse Counselor to guide patients through medically assisted treatment, conduct individual and group sessions, and support crisis management and coping strategies.

The role evaluates progress, collaborates with doctors and therapists, and involves family participation in recovery. A LCAS or CADC is preferred and a background check is required.

Qualifications

• Must have LCAS or CADC licensed in North Carolina.
• Previous experience with Medically Assisted Treatment (MAT) addiction patients preferred.
• Must demonstrate a positive, non-judgmental, accepting attitude toward patients.

Responsibilities

• Conducts individual initial assessment for service eligibility.
• Completes Bio-psychosocial assessment.
• Provide individual and group counseling; coordinate all services.
• Involve families in the recovery process when possible.
• Develop and participate in patient teaching activities.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Compassionate Substance Abuse Counselor Needed!

Position Overview:

The Substance abuse counselor will be in charge with assisting patients through medically assisting programs and offering techniques for handling opioid use disorder. The counselor conducts group sessions and individual sessions to assist with crisis management and coping strategies. Additionally, counselors will evaluate patients’ progress during therapy. Substance abuse counselors may also need to collaborate with doctors, nurses and therapists for patients’ therapy and treatment for the best overall outcome.

Responsibilities:

• Conducts individual initial assessment and evaluation interviews for service eligibility determination
• Completes Bio-psychosocial assessment.
• Provide individual and group counseling services; direct service hours at regularly scheduled intervals; coordinate all services throughout treatment
• Involve families and significant others in patient’s recovery process whenever possible
• Develops and participates in individual or group patient teaching projects
• Other related duties as determined by supervisor

Qualifications:

• Must have a LCAS or CADC in the state of North Carolina
• Previous experience working with Medically Assisted Treatment addiction patients for at least one year preferred.
• Must demonstrate a positive, non-judgmental, and accepting attitude toward our patient population

• Satisfactory criminal background check and drug screen
