Summary:
Equiliem is seeking a Substitute School Nurse to provide assessment, screening, planning, intervention, evaluation, counseling, management, and/or referrals concerning students' health and medical care needs. The goal is to minimize absences due to illness, maximize educational opportunities, and promote a healthy school climate.
Essential Functions:
- Collaborate with healthcare providers, students' parents, school district staff, and community agencies to ensure access and continuity of care.
- Assist in establishing and maintaining a comprehensive school health program.
- Collect information on students' health development for compliance with immunization regulations and policies.
- Conduct immunization programs, physical exams, and sight and hearing tests.
- Perform nursing assessments for ill or injured students, providing first aid, care, and referrals.
- Evaluate and modify nursing care plans as needed.
- Implement policies regarding exclusion and readmission related to infectious diseases.
- Maintain accurate records in accordance with laws and policies.
- Develop individual health care plans (ICHP) and incorporate them into students' IEPs.
- Intervene based on nursing care plans to promote health and prevent illness.
- Participate in school teams such as Crisis Teams, PPT, Section 504.
- Provide guidance, counseling, and health education.
- Communicate with parents, staff, physicians, and clinics regarding students' health needs.
- Train staff on emergency procedures and care for students with disabilities.
- Contribute to nursing practice and research.
- Assess the health of school district employees as requested.
- Provide health education to students as needed.
- Report injuries or illnesses to appropriate parties.
- Consult with parents and staff regarding health assessments.

Equipment:
- Use medical equipment such as blood glucose monitors, stethoscopes, thermometers, sphygmomanometers.
- Use personal computers.

- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, symptoms, treatments, and nutrition.
- Ability to diagnose and care for ill or injured students.

Qualifications Profile:
- Combination of education, licenses, certifications, and experience.
License or Certificate:
- Registered Nurse (RN) licensed in New Jersey or School Nurse certification.
- Current CPR certification.
