Job summary

Confederated Tribes of Coos, Lower Umpqua, and Siuslaw Indians (CTCLUSI) seek a Planning and Environmental Program Coordinator to administer subsistence hunting, fishing, and trapping program, coordinating with ODFW and other agencies across western Oregon.

The role involves conducting habitat surveys, issuing licenses, and advising on seasons while collaborating with tribal members and stakeholders to protect fish and wildlife resources.

Qualifications

  • Must be 25 years of age or older per vehicle use policy.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to insure Tribal Government vehicles.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a natural resources field (wildlife biology, fisheries, aquatic science, or general biology).
  • Knowledge of Oregon hunting, fishing, and trapping laws.
  • Minimum of two years of front office or reception experience with scheduling and multi-line phones.
  • Knowledge of Pacific Northwest native fish and wildlife life histories.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and complete projects on time.
  • First Aid and CPR certification within 90 days of hire; recertification as required.
  • CJIS Security certification eligibility/maintenance.
  • Clear English communication in speech and writing.
  • Safety sensitive; pre-employment drug testing and background check with fingerprinting.
  • CTCLUSI background policy applies; state background checks required.
  • Must be employment eligible in the United States.
  • Maintain appearance standards; professionalism.
  • Indian preference will be observed in hiring.

Responsibilities

  • Work as part of a team to implement the Tribe’s Environmental Program.
  • Coordinate habitat and population surveys for fish and wildlife as needed.
  • Collaborate with timber, recreation, and watershed managers on status and recovery needs.
  • Administer the Tribe’s subsistence hunting, fishing, and trapping program.
  • Issue licenses, tags and permits to CTCLUSI Tribal members.
  • Coordinate with western Oregon Tribes and ODFW on seasons and bag limits.
  • Provide recommendations to ODFW on CTCLUSI seasons and distribution.
  • Maintain relationships with stakeholders and participate in regional committees.
  • Report subsistence data to Tribal Council and state policy makers.
  • Review land management proposals for habitat protection and enhancement.
  • Assist with grants, budgets, reporting, and implementation to protect habitat.
  • Undertake trainings to expand expertise and credential maintenance.
  • Support program education and outreach activities.
