General Summary: We are seeking a SUBSAFE / LEVEL I experienced Mechanic to perform repairs and restoration work on various valves, including Ball valves. Work is conducted in an industrial workshop environment, with exposure to drafts, noise, and temperature variations. The role involves handling equipment where safety is critical, as carelessness could result in injury or death.

Job Location: Norfolk, VA

Hire Date: ASAP

Principal Duties/Responsibilities:

  1. Perform repairs, refurbishment, and testing on SUBSAFE and Level 1 valves using appropriate tools and following technical manuals and instructions, under supervision.
  2. Document all work, inspections, and testing using Quality Assurance Forms.
  3. Receive technical guidance from supervisors or senior technicians, with work reviewed for compliance.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Pass background check.
  • US Citizenship is required.
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience repairing and restoring U.S. Naval SUBSAFE and/or Level I valves and actuators.
  • At least 2 years of experience using tools such as micrometers, calipers, gauges, surface comparators, and dial indicators.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, manuals, blueprints, and technical documents; capable of writing routine reports and communicating effectively.
  • Basic math skills for measurements and calculations.
  • Current SECRET Security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Naval Ship Repair Facility Craftsman qualification.
  • Experience in Epoxy Valve Repair.
