Job Title: AY Submersible Pump Assembler
Location: AY Pump Warehouse – 1809 Adel Street, Janesville, WI
Division: Baker Water Systems – AY McDonald Pumps
Reports To: Warehouse Supervisor or Manufacturing Lead

Position Summary:

The AY Submersible Pump Assembler is responsible for assembling submersible pump components to precise specifications at Baker Manufacturing’s new AY Pump Warehouse. This role supports efficient, high-quality pump production for AY McDonald’s aftermarket and OEM product lines. The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and committed to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assemble submersible pump components including motors, shafts, impellers, seals, and other mechanical parts using hand and power tools.
  • Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions to ensure accurate and consistent assembly.
  • Conduct in-process quality checks and perform functional tests on assembled pumps.
  • Maintain accurate records of assembly work, component usage, and inspection results.
  • Assist with receiving, organizing, and staging components and materials.
  • Work collaboratively with warehouse and production teams to meet daily production targets.
  • Follow all safety protocols and contribute to a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives, including 5S, lean manufacturing, and standard work updates.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Mechanical aptitude and experience with hand tools required; previous pump or motor assembly experience is a plus.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, schematics, and written instructions.
  • Basic computer/data entry skills (for work orders and inventory tracking).
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
  • Team-oriented with strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • This position is based in a newly established warehouse and light manufacturing facility.
  • Fast-paced environment with both individual and team-oriented tasks.
  • Occasional overtime or schedule adjustments may be required to meet demand.
