Job summary

Amentum is seeking a Submarine Fire Control Technician in Norfolk, VA to support onboard FTA, troubleshooting, maintenance, and installation of SWFTS and associated combat control systems.

Ideal candidates hold an active Secret clearance and have extensive submarine electronics experience. Compensation is hourly under SCA with comprehensive health and welfare benefits, and opportunities for OEM coordination and on-the-job training.

Qualifications

• Six years of full-time engineering experience onboard submarines in the operation, maintenance, installation, test, or repair of SWFTS and/or weapons handling equipment.
• Eight years of full-time technical experience in the design, installation, test, or repair of electronics systems and equipment.
• Active Secret US Government Clearance required.

Responsibilities

• Perform onboard FTA to checkout, fault isolation, and repair submarine combat control systems.
• Provide on-the-job training (OJT) to ship’s force during maintenance efforts.
• Respond to fleet requests for troubleshooting guidance or assistance; research technical documents at MARMC.
• Create TAVR messages after FTA visits and update FTS database with findings.
• Support MARMC Code 271 with submarine action items and updates to FTS/TAR.
• Coordinate OEM support when required and direct FTA to SWFTS suite when needed.
• Review CASREP/Tech Assist traffic for code 271 messages and keep FTS database current.
• Calibrate government combat test equipment not calibrated by Navy METCAL.
• Participate in TYCOM IA posture transition events and NIWC/SIIMO AIT efforts.
