Job description

Amentum is seeking a Submarine Combat Systems Technician to join our Norfolk, VA team.

As a BYG-1 Submarine Combat Systems Technician, you will provide technical evaluation and perform corrective actions for submarine combat systems casualties in accordance with the Joint Fleet Maintenance Manual and all other applicable Navy Maintenance Procedures. You will draft Technical Assistance Visit reports upon completion of corrective actions, assist in disassembly, reassembly, installation, and testing of combat control systems on all classes of submarines, and support engineering and design staff in various tasks related to installation, maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, calibration, testing, fabrication, construction, and operation of electronic and mechanical equipment in accordance with engineering specifications.

Your responsibilities include installing, monitoring, and servicing equipment at company and client sites, assisting with testing and evaluation, checkout, certification, and validating electronic systems. You will review change proposals, assist with Engineering Change Instructions, develop technical data for maintenance systems, manuals, troubleshooting procedures, and support system engineering activities. Additionally, you will establish and maintain tracking systems, serve as the on-site interface for customer interactions, ensure compliance with documentation standards, and serve as a senior/lead technician to train other technicians.

Must have an Active Secret US Government Clearance. US Citizenship is required to maintain this clearance.

Requirements include five (5) years of practical experience with a High School diploma/GED, or three (3) years with an Associate’s Degree in Engineering Technology, math, or science, or formal electronics training from a technical or military school, or a four-year electronics apprentice program. Submarine Combat Systems experience is required. The position requires travel up to 40% of the time.

Preferred qualifications include experience with network configuration and BYG-1 combat control system.

Service Contract Act (SCA) Compensation & Benefits: This hourly, overtime-eligible position falls under the SCA. You may be eligible for additional health and welfare payments per hour worked, depending on your selected benefits. The exact amount varies based on your choices.
