Job description

The Subject Matter Expert (SME) for English Language Arts (ELA) will develop engaging and comprehensive lesson plans and instructional materials for a Grade 3-5 ELA course aligned with the US curriculum. This role requires a strong understanding of literary analysis, writing skills, and effective teaching strategies to foster student literacy and critical thinking.

Key Responsibilities

• Subject Matter Expertise:
• Conduct thorough research on key literary works, genres, and themes relevant to Grade 3-5 ELA.
• Stay informed about current educational trends and best practices in language arts instruction.
• Instructional Design and Development:
• Create detailed lesson plans that align with curriculum standards and learning objectives.
• Develop assessments and evaluation tools to measure student understanding and writing proficiency.
• Design supplementary materials, such as reading guides, writing prompts, and multimedia resources, to enhance the learning experience.
• Collaboration and Feedback:
• Collaborate with curriculum developers, educators, and stakeholders to ensure alignment with educational goals.
• Incorporate feedback from peer reviews and pilot testing to refine lesson plans and instructional materials.
• Participate in virtual collaboration sessions with the LearningMate team to discuss progress and share insights.

Qualifications

• Required:
• Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or a related field.
• Proven experience in curriculum development and lesson planning for English Language Arts.
• Strong knowledge of literary analysis and writing instruction.
• Experience teaching English Language Arts at the high school level.
• Must be comfortable working with AI Tools, and should be open to work on Articulate Rise (training will be provided).
• Preferred:
• Master’s degree in English, Education, or a related field.
• Familiarity with digital learning platforms and instructional technology.
