Job summary

Global Alliant Inc. is seeking a Subject Matter Expert 1 - DBA to support the HHS OCSS program. This fully remote US-based role requires residency in the United States and the ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance.

The ideal candidate has PostgreSQL on AWS RDS, Linux expertise, and strong scripting (Bash, Python) for automation, plus experience with data models, performance tuning, and CI/CD deployments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience with 8 years of relevant professional experience.
• Advanced scripting in Bash and Python for DBA tasks.
• Experience with PostgreSQL databases in AWS RDS and data modeling.
• Database administration experience with PostgreSQL on AWS RDS.
• Experience with MySQL, SQL Server, or Oracle as needed.
• Experience evaluating data architectures and communicating recommendations.
• Experience with CDC in PostgreSQL using AWS DMS.
• HA/DR design knowledge (Multi-AZ/Region).
• Advanced Linux and AWS environment experience.
• Strong communication skills and security/compliance focus (FISMA/FedRAMP).
• Experience with Git and CI/CD for DB deployments; Liquibase or Flyway.

Job description

Subject Matter Expert 1 - DBA to support HHS OCSS

Up to $120,000/year on W2

General Guidelines

• Fully remote 'work from home' role
• Must be working from within the United States
• Must be resident of the US for at least the last 3 years
• Must be able to obtain and retain a Public Trust Clearance
• Must not have worked on the OCSS Program at any time in the past
• Only US Citizen or Green card holder at this time as per client requirement

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 8 years of relevant professional experience;
• Advanced scripting expertise including bash and Python for database administration and CloudFormation for deployments.
• Demonstrated experience with developing logical and physical data models, data/information exchange models, standards, or tools in a PostgreSQL database environment.
• Extensive database administration experience with PostgreSQL running on Amazon RDS.
• Database administration experience with one or more of MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, and Oracle.
• Experience in evaluating data architecture & data models and communicating recommendations to the program team.
• Experience managing database replication and Change Data Capture (CDC) preferably in PostgreSQL using AWS Database Migration Service (DMS).
• Solid understanding of High Availability and Resiliency architecture (Multi-AZ and Multi-Region deployment architecture)
• Advanced experience in a Linux environment.
• Experience in an AWS environment.
• Strong verbal and written communications skills.
• Experience with database security and compliance controls, including FISMA/FedRAMP requirements, encryption at rest and in transit (SSL/TLS), role-based access control (RBAC), and audit logging using pgAudit.
• Advanced expertise with PostgreSQL query performance tuning, including use of EXPLAIN, index design and optimization, and autovacuum configuration.
• Experience with version control (Git) and CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or AWS CodePipeline) for database deployments; familiarity with database migration tools such as Liquibase or Flyway.
• Demonstrated performance leading IT services delivery and achieving service level agreements.
• Strong focus on automation and documentation.
