Job summary

CAMRIS is seeking a Subject Matter Expert to support the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta, GA. The role focuses on scientific research, laboratory expertise, and strategic guidance across public health domains.

You will collaborate with diverse teams to deliver high-quality analyses, literature reviews, and manuscripts, contributing to CDC program strategy and cross-agency initiatives while engaging with stakeholders at multiple levels.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Health Sciences, Behavioral Sciences, Social Sciences, Medicine, Nursing, or related field.
  • 7+ years of progressively responsible experience in public health or related fields.
  • Documented experience working at or with CDC, a federal public health agency, or comparable organization.
  • Demonstrated subject matter expertise applicable to the assigned CDC portfolio.
  • License, certification, credential, or qualification relevant to the SME discipline as required by the contract.
  • Experience conducting literature reviews, evidence synthesis, technical research, or manuscript development.
  • Experience developing, implementing, evaluating, or managing public health programs or strategies.
  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams, programs, projects, or stakeholder groups.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Lends support in building and sustaining successful cross-team structure capable of providing range of subject matter support services.
  • Provides oversight for multiple client engagements by managing several multi-faceted programs and creating an overarching vision.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Health Sciences, Behavioral Sciences, Social Sciences, Medicine, Nursing, or a related scientific or health discipline.
  • 7+ years of progressively responsible experience in public health, health sciences, epidemiology, injury prevention, chronic disease prevention, violence prevention, health policy, or a closely related field.
  • Documented professional experience working at or with CDC, a federal public health agency, or a comparable federal, state, local, academic, or public health organization.
  • Demonstrated subject matter expertise applicable to the assigned CDC portfolio.
  • Applicable professional license, certification, credential, or other recognized qualification relevant to the assigned subject matter expertise, where required by the applicable discipline or contract.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting or supporting scientific literature reviews, evidence synthesis, technical research, or manuscript development.
  • Demonstrated experience developing, implementing, evaluating, or managing public health programs or strategies.
  • Experience analyzing complex scientific, organizational, or programmatic issues and developing evidence-based recommendations.
  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams, programs, projects, or stakeholder groups.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to independently manage complex assignments while collaborating effectively with scientific, technical, programmatic, and leadership stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's or doctoral degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Health Sciences, Medicine, Behavioral Sciences, or a related discipline.
  • Direct experience supporting CDC programs, centers, divisions, or offices.
  • Previous experience with NCCDPHP or NCIPC.
  • Direct subject matter expertise in:
    • Chronic disease prevention
    • Unintentional injury prevention
    • Violence prevention
  • Experience working within a federal government contracting environment.
  • Experience with federal public health policy, program implementation, evaluation, or strategic planning.
  • Demonstrated scientific publication history or experience contributing to peer-reviewed manuscripts.
  • Experience with organizational transformation and change management.
  • Experience managing multiple concurrent programs, projects, or client engagements.
  • Experience developing white papers, scientific reports, technical memoranda, presentations, briefing materials, and other executive-level deliverables.
  • Advanced degree, professional certification, license, or specialized credential directly applicable to the assigned SME discipline.
