Job summary

Sea Pro Boats is seeking a detail-oriented Sub-Assembly Technician to join our production team in Whitmire, SC. You will assemble, test, and prepare boat subcomponents, interpreting blueprints and using hand and power tools to meet exact specifications.

You will work collaboratively with supervisors and engineers in a fast-paced marine environment, maintain 5S safety standards, and document work and materials accurately. Previous marine-assembly experience preferred.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in mechanical assembly, preferably in marine, automotive, or related industries preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and schematics.
  • Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and measurement instruments.
  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Good problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot minor assembly issues.
  • Knowledge of boating components or marine systems a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform assembly of boat sub-components (e.g., electrical harnesses, fuel systems, steering assemblies, seating, hatches, trim components, etc.).
  • Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions to ensure accurate assembly.
  • Operate hand tools, power tools and continuous measuring and inspection of parts and equipment to blueprints/drawings to exact requirements.
  • Conduct inspections and quality checks on assembled parts to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Collaborate with production supervisors and engineers to identify and resolve manufacturing and assembly issues.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area in compliance with safety and 5S standards.
  • Accurately and promptly record completed work, materials used, and any issues encountered.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance production efficiency and product quality.
  • Maintain Safety Training as assigned.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Position Overview

Detail-oriented and mechanically skilled Sub-Assembly Technician to join our production team in the boating industry. This role is responsible for assembling, testing, and preparing subcomponents used in boat manufacturing, ensuring they meet company quality standards and comply with industry regulations. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fastpaced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform assembly of boat sub-components (e.g., electrical harnesses, fuel systems, steering assemblies, seating, hatches, trim components, etc.).
  • Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions to ensure accurate assembly.
  • Operate hand tools (screwdrivers, hammer, measuring tape, etc.), power tools (drill, buffer, driver, etc) and continuous measuring and inspection of parts and equipment to blueprints/drawings to exact requirements, safely and efficiently.
  • Conduct inspections and quality checks on assembled parts to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Collaborate with production supervisors and engineers to identify and resolve manufacturing and assembly issues.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area in compliance with safety and 5S standards.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to Stand and Walk for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift and carry/move up to 50 lbs.
  • Frequent needs to: climb, crawl, push, pull, lift, stoop, crouch, kneel, crawl, speak, hear, visually inspect work, rotate arms at various angles, reach overhead, reach at or below shoulder level, gross, fine manipulation to operate hand and power tools, etc.
  • Read levels, temperatures and gauges.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces within boat hulls and compartments.
  • Work in an environment with exposure to noise at levels not requiring ear protection, chemicals, and dust. Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators, gloves, and eye protection.
  • Must be able to wear required PPE including safety glasses, gloves, steel-toe boots, and respirators as required.
  • Work off a creeper.
  • Seasonal Temperatures may impact work environment.
