Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • AWS D1.1 certification in GMAW and SAW needed.
  • Graduate from an accredited trade school for welding preferred.

Basic Function:

Welds metal components to fabricate or repair products according to layouts, blueprints, or work orders, using brazing, arc, and gas welding equipment. Knowledge of welding procedures and practices is essential to ensure product quality.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Welds metal structural components using Gas Metal Arc Welding and Submerged Arc Welding for steel electrical poles, substations, and structures.
  • Performs hand welding, lays out guidelines, marks on metal, and may cut metal with a torch or plasma cutter.
  • Conducts welding involving planning, layout, blueprints, and critical safety and load requirements, working in various positions.

Skills / Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Graduate from an accredited trade school for welding
  • Successful completion of an internal welding test
  • AWS D1.1 certified in GMAW 1G, 2F, GMAW-P 3G Vertical Down, and SAW 1G, 2F
  • Ability to interpret blueprints and weld requirement symbology
  • Knowledge of fixturing and weld setup parameters
  • Basic math skills and ability to use US and Metric measurements
  • Ability to meet production, quality, and attendance standards after 90 days
