Job summary

Epic Games in Cary, NC is seeking an Environment Texture Artist to help create top‑quality textures and materials for environments, props, and foliage. Collaborate with a world‑class art team to shape the visual style for gameplay, cinematics, and marketing.

You will work with stylized and photo‑real textures in a PBR setting, bake maps for mobile assets, and contribute to efficient pipelines. Strong reel and knowledge of UE are required; we value communication and teamwork.

Qualifications

• AAA games experience across console, PC and mobile with a strong texture reel.
• Deep knowledge of color theory, PBR lighting and stylized texturing techniques.
• Experience with hand-painted textures, trim sheets and repeating textures.
• Baking maps for low-poly/mobile assets.
• Proficiency in Substance Painter/Designer and Photoshop.
• Experience creating and editing materials in Unreal Engine.
• Awareness of memory and performance constraints in real-time textures.
• Excellent communication and collaboration for real-time pipelines.
• Shader knowledge is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Create textures and materials for environments, props and foliage from concept art.
• Collaborate with the Art Director and environment team, receiving and giving feedback.
• Texture environments in stylized and photo-realistic styles as needed.
• Build materials and refine surface quality for diverse environments.
• Coordinate with cross-discipline teams for multiple platforms.
• Help define and optimize studio texture pipelines and workflows.
