Job summary

Jamul Casino’s spa salon seeks a licensed cosmetologist to provide high-quality hair and barbering services to guests. You will help promote spa treatments, assess hair care needs, and maintain clean, well-stocked workstations while delivering exceptional customer service.

The role requires a professional appearance, flexible shifts including weekends, and adherence to grooming and sanitation standards to ensure guest satisfaction and cost controls. Training is encouraged to grow in the spa team.

Qualifications

• Must possess a current cosmetology license through the California State Board of Barbering and Cosmetology.
• Enhances technical knowledge through continued training, courses, and education.
• Maintain a positive attitude and contribute to a quality work environment.
• Must be able to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.
• Proper care for equipment and uses appropriate amounts of product to assist with cost controls.
• Adheres to all grooming standards as outlined by leadership.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality hair and barbering services based on guests’ preferences.
• Promote/upsell salon and spa treatments and services.
• Evaluate the condition of guests’ hair and advise on proper hair care and treatments.
• Sanitization of all salon instruments and equipment before each use.
• Ensure workstations and equipment are kept clean and orderly, with supplies stocked.
• Build a client base through referrals and promotional materials.
• Maintain knowledge of services and products offered to promote promotions.
• Arrive on time for scheduled shifts and perform services within allotted times.
• Open and close shifts per SOPs and stock salon products and guest amenities.
• Maintain guest profiles to anticipate future needs and deliver superior service.

Job description

• Ability to operate standard office equipment – phones, computers, etc.
• Presents a professional, well‑groomed appearance; provided uniforms must be worn in the Spa and must be laundered and pressed.
• Works effectively with guests and team members, and others by sharing ideas in a constructive and positive manner; listening to and objectively considering ideas and suggestions from others; keeping commitments; keeping others informed of work progress, timetables, and issues; addressing problems and issues constructively to find mutually acceptable and practical business solutions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The following and other duties may be assigned as necessary:

• Provide high‑quality hair and barbering services based on guests’ preferences. Including color, cutting, and re‑texturing services.
• Promote/upsell salon and spa treatments and services.
• Evaluate the condition of guests’ hair and advise them on proper hair care and suitable solutions and hair care treatments.
• Sanitization of all salon instruments and equipment before each use.
• Ensuring that workstations and equipment are kept clean and orderly, and all supplies are adequately stocked.
• Build a client base through referrals and utilization of available promotional materials.
• General knowledge of features and benefits of professional and retail hair products.
• Participates in sales incentive programs.
• Perform Salon duties while always maintaining the guests’ comfort.
• Ensure individualized guest service through acknowledging and responding to their needs and expectations.
• Actively participate in other areas of the spa operations, Nail, Hair, etc., product knowledge and retail sales.
• Arrive on time for scheduled shift, prompt with each appointment, and perform services within the appropriate time allotted for the service.
• Properly opens and closes each shift according to standard operating procedures.
• Stock salon products, linens and guest amenities.
• Building and maintaining guest profiles to anticipate future needs and deliver superior service
• Disposal of garbage and used linens effectively, efficiently, in a timely manner and as instructed.
• Proper care for equipment and uses appropriate amounts of product to assist with cost controls.
• Upholds the standards of sanitation and sterilization as directed by law and the spa’s policies and procedures.
• Provide accurate and detailed descriptions of spa treatments, packages, services, treatment contraindications, facility features and hours of operation; Possesses complete knowledge and understands all services and products offered to actively promote services and promotions.
• Assists in all areas of the spa operation as needed or requested.
• Ensure all salon retail is clean, stocked, and well maintained.
• Communicates to management all occurrences involving guests and/or team members in the spa that require attention.
• Ensure confidentiality with respect to guest information.
• Maintain a positive attitude and contribute to a quality work environment.
• Act in accordance with established guidelines; follow standard procedures; recognize and comply with written rules or practices.
• Adapt and interact with people who have different values, cultures, or backgrounds, be of service to potentially difficult people, recognize the benefits of having a diverse workforce.
• Adhere to AAA standards and policies.
• Adheres to all grooming standards as outlined by leadership.
