The Stylist in Training / Apprentice Stylist position at Regis is a temporary 90-day role designed to integrate unlicensed, future stylists into the salon environment and support their learning. The primary responsibilities include:
- Delivering exceptional customer service
- Communicating effectively with management, customers, and co-workers
- Market and grow the business
- Observe experienced stylists and ask relevant questions
- Control expenses
- Promote and sell salon services and retail products
- Answer phones, stock shelves, and maintain cleanliness
- Complete other duties as assigned by the manager
Upon obtaining a license, the stylist-in-training may be eligible for promotion to a stylist position. To qualify, they must:
- Possess a valid license in their state
- Be able to perform licensed services such as cutting, styling, coloring, waxing, washing, and perming
- Demonstrate adherence to Regis values of honesty, accountability, integrity, and respect
Qualifications
- Graduate from an accredited cosmetology school and obtain necessary licensure within 90 days of hire
- Ability to work in a dynamic environment
- Good time management, judgment, and multi-tasking skills
- Interpersonal skills to communicate professionally and courteously
- Computer skills, including POS systems and data entry
- Flexible schedule, including nights and weekends
Essential Functions
Market and Grow the Business
- Promote and sell services and products, including recommending additional services and retail items
- Communicate pricing clearly
- Coordinate promotional displays
- Handle sales to walk-in customers
Provide Exceptional Customer Service
- Greet customers professionally and understand their needs
- Estimate wait times and answer calls promptly
- Address complaints and escalate when necessary
Manage and Control Expenses
- Follow salon schedules and policies
- Charge accurately for services and products, applying discounts appropriately
- Protect company assets
Complete Administrative Tasks and Ensure Compliance
- Assist with salon operations, including answering phones, stocking, and cleaning
- Communicate professionally with staff and clients
- Maintain safety standards
- Attend mandatory meetings and training
- Handle POS transactions properly
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
- Lift up to 10 lbs regularly; occasional lifting of 10-25 lbs
- Stand continuously and reach above shoulder level
- Push and pull salon furniture as needed
- Work with chemicals and fragrances used in styling
- Climb ladders or stepstools occasionally
- Communicate effectively with clients
- Read, write, and perform basic math tasks
- Occasional travel for training or meetings
