Job Duties
A stylist-in-training at Regis is a temporary 90-day position designed to integrate an unlicensed, future stylist into the salon workplace and help them learn the business. It is the stylist-in-training's responsibility to deliver exceptional customer service and communicate effectively with management, customers, and co-workers. Specifically, the job duties include:
- Market and grow the business
- Observe other stylists/managers at work and ask relevant questions
- Provide exceptional customer service
- Control expenses
- Promote and sell services and retail products
- Answer telephones, stock and dust shelves, and sweep hair
- Complete all other duties as assigned by the manager
The stylist-in-training may be eligible for promotion to a stylist position after obtaining their license. To be considered, they must:
- Possess a valid license in their applicable state
- Be able to perform duties allowed by their license, including cutting, styling, coloring, waxing, washing, and perming hair
- Demonstrate adherence to Regis values of honesty, accountability, integrity, and respect
Qualifications
- Graduate from an accredited cosmetology school and obtain necessary licenses within or before 90 days of hire
- Ability to work in a dynamic salon environment
- Good time management, judgment, and multi-tasking skills
- Interpersonal skills to communicate professionally with customers, co-workers, and management
- Computer knowledge, including POS systems and data entry
- Flexible schedule including nights and weekends
Essential Functions
Market and Grow the Business:
- Promote and sell services and products, recommending additional services or retail items to enhance customer satisfaction
- Convey clear pricing information
- Coordinate promotional displays using ShopTalk
- Handle sales to walk-in retail customers
Provide Exceptional Customer Service:
- Understand customer needs, greet professionally, and escort clients through the salon
- Estimate wait times and answer calls promptly
- Handle complaints and refer issues to management
Manage And Control Expenses:
- Follow weekly schedules
- Charge correctly for services and products, applying discounts as per policy
- Safeguard assets by adhering to policies
Complete Administrative Tasks/Compliance:
- Assist with salon operations: answering phones, stocking, sweeping, etc.
- Communicate professionally
- Maintain safety standards
- Attend mandatory meetings and training
- Handle POS transactions
Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
- Frequent lifting up to 10 lbs., occasional 10-25 lbs.
- Continuous standing and reaching
- Occasional pushing, pulling, climbing
- Exposure to chemicals and fragrances
- Ability to communicate with clients
- Basic reading, writing, and math skills
- Occasional travel for meetings and training
