Job summary

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree and three (3) years of competitive involvement in STUNT or cheerleading (high school, collegiate, or club levels) which may include a combination of playing and/or coaching experience.
  • Knowledge of NCAA regulations and guidelines governing the recruitment and retention of student-athletes, as well as athletic recruitment methods and techniques.
  • Skilled in evaluating talent in order to recruit players to improve the program.
  • Ability to lead and guide Division II student-athletes in area of specialty to include identifying deficiencies and providing instruction to improve overall skill and performance.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the STUNT and cheerleading programs within conference and NCAA regulations.
  • Instruct and work with student athletes to prepare them for competition; develop athletic performance.
  • Organize and conduct practice sessions throughout the day, as needed.
  • Recruit qualified student-athletes and manage the retention and matriculation process.
  • Represent the program and the College with internal and external groups as needed.

Job Description:

Christian Brothers, a Lasallian liberal arts college, is seeking a Head Coach for STUNT and Cheerleading. This position is charged with oversight of the STUNT and Cheerleading programs and fulfilling the duties and responsibilities of the head coach. The coach is expected to follow all NCAA, STUNT, Conference, and College policies.

Responsible for the overall function of the STUNT and cheerleading programs within conference and NCAA regulations. Instruct and work with student athletes to prepare them for competition. Help athletes to enhance athletic performance individually or as a team unit. Understand the rules, strategies, and techniques of the sport. Teach student athletes how to use sports equipment efficiently and safely. Organize and conduct practice sessions throughout the day, as needed. Represents the program and the College with any internal or external groups as needed.

With the assistance of the Director of Athletics, defines and achieves annual enrollment goals of the programs. Recruits qualified student-athletes to participate in the program. Recruiting is by direct mailings, handwritten notes, electronic, telephonic, and in-person (travel required) means. Assumes responsibility for the retention and matriculation process for student-athletes in their athletic and academic endeavors.

  • Knowledge of NCAA regulations and guidelines governing the recruitment and retention of student-athletes, as well as athletic recruitment methods and techniques.
  • Skilled in evaluating talent in order to recruit players to improve the program.
  • Ability to lead and guide Division II student-athletes in area of specialty to include identifying deficiencies and providing instruction to improve overall skill and performance.
  • Ability to manage personnel.
  • Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments.
  • Ability to build relationships and work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
  • Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.
  • Skilled in budget preparation, management and fundraising.
  • Thrives in an environment of teamwork and collaboration.
  • Ability to work extended hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment and the ability to respond to high-pressure situations. Ability to thrive in an environment of hard work.
  • Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.

Preferred Experience:

  • Previous successful coaching experience as a collegiate student athlete or coach.
  • Experience launching or growing a collegiate athletic program.
  • Strong recruiting network within STUNT, competitive cheer, gymnastics, and related athletic communities.
