Sylvan Learning Center in Vacaville, CA is seeking a patient and organized Study Skills Tutor to help students become more confident, independent, and effective learners. You will support students with organization, time management, note-taking, homework completion, and test preparation within small groups or one-on-one settings.

The ideal candidate may have a bachelor’s degree or teaching credential (preferred), with 1–2 years of teaching or tutoring experience.

• Experience teaching phonics, fluency, vocabulary, or reading comprehension preferred.
• Experience supporting students with different academic needs and learning styles preferred.

Responsabilidades

• Provide study-skills and homework support individually or in groups of up to four.
• Teach organization, time-management, note-taking, and test-preparation strategies.
• Help students plan assignments, projects, and study schedules.
• Support students with completing and understanding homework.
• Follow Sylvan’s instructional methods, curriculum, and preplanned lessons.
• Help students set realistic academic goals and monitor their progress.
• Encourage responsibility, independence, and academic confidence.
• Adapt strategies to each student’s age, learning needs, and school responsibilities.
• Document student progress and complete instructional notes.
• Use tablets and other instructional technology as required.
• Maintain a structured, professional, and encouraging environment.
• Complete all required Sylvan training.

Educación

Sylvan Learning is seeking a patient, organized, and motivating Study Skills Tutor to help students become more confident, independent, and effective learners.

The Study Skills Tutor will support students with organization, time management, note-taking, homework completion, test preparation, goal setting, and effective study strategies. Instructors may also help students better understand their learning habits and develop practical systems for managing assignments and academic responsibilities.

Required Availability

Applicants must be available during the following instructional hours:

• Monday, Tuesday, Thursday: 3:00 p.m.–7:00 p.m.
• Friday: 3:00 p.m. -7:00 p.m.
• Saturday: 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.

Actual scheduled shifts and weekly hours may vary based on enrollment, staffing needs, and student schedules.
