Job summary

Memphis Shelby County Schools seeks a position to provide and supervise instructional and behavioral activities for students referred for in-school suspension. The role ensures assigned class work is completed and serves as adviser to students in resolving problems while maintaining classroom order.

You will monitor behavior, call security when needed, communicate with parents about discipline, and compile daily/weekly incident reports. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.

• Maintains a quiet study environment.
• Compiles reports and files of incidents; prepares daily/weekly logs.
• Gathers assignments for on-campus suspension; completes process forms.
• Performs other duties as assigned or directed.

The position is responsible for ensuring assigned class work is completed, serving as an adviser to students in resolving problems as needed, maintaining classroom order, and performing related duties as assigned.

Provides and supervises instructional and behavioral activities for students referred by the school principal or assistant principal for in-school suspension. The position is responsible for ensuring assigned class work is completed, serving as an adviser to students in resolving problems as needed, maintaining classroom order, and performing related duties as assigned.

• Maintains attendance rolls, study hall roster, tardy roster and records.
• Tutors students when requested.
• Calls security for student escorts to restroom, lunch, or other designated areas.
• Monitors, and defuses angry, out of control or hostile student behaviors.
• Communicates with parents as appropriate on discipline in study hall.
• Maintains a quiet study environment.
• Compiles reports and files of individual and group incidents, action taken and/or recommended. Prepares daily and weekly reports and maintains sign-in logs of students.
• Complies with on-campus-suspension rules by gathering student assignments from teachers to be completed while student is absent from class.
• Completes process form with students as to their behavior.
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.
• Performs other related duties as assigned or directed.

Requires a High School diploma or equivalent.

Degree Equivalency Formula

Bachelor’s Degree= 4 years plus required years of experience.

Master’s Degree= 2 years plus required years of experience. Where Master’s degrees are required, years for Bachelor’s Degrees must be included.
