Our client is seeking a Studio Manager specializing in Finance & Operations to oversee the financial, operational, and administrative functions of the practice. Reporting directly to the Principal, this individual will take ownership of the firm's business operations, allowing the design leadership to focus on architecture, mentorship, and business development.
Responsibilities will include firm-wide budgeting, financial forecasting, cash flow management, and financial reporting, as well as project financial management, including fee tracking, billing, consultant costs, and project profitability. The Studio Manager will also oversee invoicing, collections, accounts payable, payroll, benefits administration, contracts, fee proposals, insurance renewals, and firm registrations.
Additional responsibilities will include staffing and project resource planning, developing AI-assisted tools and workflows to improve operational efficiency, and collaborating with the Principal on business planning, growth strategy, and long‑term firm operations.

Required:
Strong financial management skills, including budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial reporting
Working knowledge of how architectural and design projects are scoped, staffed, contracted, billed, and delivered
Proficiency with accounting and financial software such as QuickBooks Online, Xero, and Gusto
Demonstrated experience with AI tools, including Claude Code within Terminal, with the ability to build or automate workflows
Exceptional organizational skills, follow‑through, and attention to detail
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Intellectual curiosity, initiative, and a strong academic background
Legal authorization to work in the United States
SDA Certificate in Design Firm Operations (CDFO), or an interest in earning it, is a plus
Education:
MBA or graduate‑level business training, ideally paired with an architecture or design background. Candidates with an architecture background and business training are especially welcome.
Salary:
$90,000–$150,000
