Job summary

Metropolitan YMCA Of The Oranges Inc in Livingston, NJ seeks a Class Experience & Talent Leader to build a world-class team of instructors and cultivate an inclusive member community. You will ensure studios deliver a flawless, sensory-rich workout environment and coordinate schedules, events, and community initiatives.

You will recruit, onboard, coach, and evaluate instructors across cycle, yoga, and studio formats; oversee facilities, equipment, and AV; and partner with marketing to boost

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience leading, auditing, or mentoring group fitness instructors (Studio, Cycle, or Yoga formats).
• Current Group Fitness Certification (ACE, AFAA, NASM) or a specialized modality certification (e.g., 200-hour RYT for Yoga).
• Current CPR/AED certification.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, audition, onboard, coach, and evaluate group exercise instructors (cycle, yoga, studio).
• Conduct regular class observations and audits with feedback on cueing, musicality, programming, energy, engagement.
• Foster instructor development through mentoring, training, and performance improvement initiatives.
• Oversee cleanliness, organization, safety, and presentation of all fitness studios and spaces.
• Ensure equipment, sound systems, lighting, and studio tech are operational for an exceptional participant experience.
• Maintain a visible presence, build relationships with members, and create an inclusive environment.
• Assist members in selecting programs aligning with goals.
• Respond to member feedback and service recovery opportunities.
• Plan and execute events, workshops, master classes, and community initiatives.
• Collaborate with marketing and branch leadership to promote programs and drive participation and retention.
• Manage schedules and instructor assignments to ensure full coverage; maintain substitute pool.
